LOST SIGNAL

How phone addiction disconnects me from the reality

Like so many, during the pandemic my phone became the key vehicle to stay connected to the world. This biodiagram records and dissects the time spent on my phone throughout my daily schedule for one month during the pandemic. The voids in the diagram represent the moments when I felt disconnected, lost in a virtual world that can often feel like a state of "no signal". It is a reflection on technology's addictive nature and its impact on our lives.

Inspiration
I associate the state of phone addiction with the no signal moment on TV. The design borrows the color palette and grid pattern of it, and uses black to signify the phone screen time which indicates a vacancy in daily life.
